WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Frostburg State volleyball team defeated Finlandia, 3-1, but lost to Catholic, 3-0, on the second and final day of the Catholic Tournament, Saturday.
Seniors Sabrina and Amber Winterling earned all-tournament honors on their way to helping the Bobcats move past Finlandia behind scores of 25-8, 25-19, 19-25 and 25-21.
Sabrina posted a double-double 27 assists and 21 digs. She also added eight kills. Amber recorded 17 digs and had five kills.
Offensively, freshman Nicole Absher finished with nine kills and five blocks while classmate Andrea Armstrong was second on the team with eight kills. Freshman Maddie White contributed 24 digs.
FSU dropped the final match to Catholic, 25-10, 25-21 and 25-22.
Armstrong led with six kills and five blocks while Sabrina had 19 assists. White had 19 digs and freshman Megan Hoover added 10 digs.
Frostburg State travels to the Allegheny Gator Invitational this coming Friday to battle Grove City at 6:00 pm.
