Women's Soccer Tabbed As No. 3 Seed in 2011 CAC Tournament

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State University women's soccer team has earned the third seed and will host sixth-seeded St. Mary's in the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Tournament opening round on Sunday, October 30, at 2:00 pm.

The Bobcats finished the regular season 14-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the CAC. Frostburg has posted 14 or more wins in each of the past five years and advanced to the CAC Championship game last season in its first year in the league.

St. Mary's finished the regular season 5-6-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the league. The Bobcats and Seahawks met in the regular season on Oct. 1. FSU earned a 4-2 victory behind four second-half goals.

The second opening round match features fourth-seeded York (7-10, 6-2) and fifth-seeded Mary Washington (8-6-2, 3-4-1). The Spartans won the regular-season matchup in overtime, 2-1.

FSU's only conference loss in 2011 came to top-seeded Salisbury in mid-October. The Sea Gulls earned a first-round bye after finishing 11-5-2 overall and 7-1 in the CAC. Stevenson earned the second seed and the other first-round bye over Frostburg based on CAC tie-breaking rules. The Mustangs finished the regular season 12-4-3 and 6-1-1.

The CAC Tournament semifinals are slated for Wednesday, Nov. 2, while the championship will be on Saturday, Nov. 5.
