Volleyball Suffers 3-1 Loss to Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Despite a double-double from senior Sabrina Winterling and 36 assists from classmate Kylie Carrington, Frostburg State suffered a 3-1 loss to Carnegie Mellon in non-conference volleyball action, Wednesday night.

The Tartans captured games one and two, 25-20 and 25-17. The Bobcats rallied for a 25-21 win in the third set, but CMU closed out the evening with a 25-17 victory.

The Bobcats fall to 15-17 overall on the season.

Winterling led the way with 11 kills and contributed 17 digs, while Carrington’s 36 assists marks the fifth-consecutive match with 30 or more.

A pair of freshmen had a strong evening as Nicole Absher smacked 10 kills and Maddie White finished with 26 digs.

FSU, which wrapped up the third seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament last weekend, heads into the final weekend of the regular season this coming Saturday. The Bobcats visit CAC foe Salisbury for a tri-match with Virginia Wesleyan.
