BALTIMORE, Md. - The Frostburg State University volleyball team suffered a pair of losses at the Johns Hopkins tri-match on Saturday. The Bobcats dropped their first match of the day to Haverford, 3-1, before falling to Johns Hopkins, 3-1, to close out the day.

FSU (14-15) hung tough with Haverford in the first match. The Fords won the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-20, but the Bobcats rebounded for a third set victory, 25-21. Haverford finished off FSU with a 25-11 victory in the fourth game.
Against JHU, Frostburg took an early 1-0 lead behind a 25-23 victory in the first set. FSU hit .333 with 14 kills to grab the early edge over the host Blue Jays. However, Hopkins battled back for three-straight wins to close out the set (25-22, 25-14, 25-23).
Freshman Nicole Absher totaled 29 kills and hit .413 over the two matches. She smashed 15 kills and posted a .483 hitting percentage against Hopkins. Senior Kylie Carrington led the way with 71 assists.
Three Bobcats posted double-digit digs in the Haverford match while four Bobcats had at least 10 digs in the series with Hopkins.
Against the Fords, freshman Andrea Armstrong posted 19 digs followed by freshman Maddie White with 13 and junior Chelsea McCloskey with 10.
White stepped up and led the way in the second match with 22 digs. Senior Amber Winterling had 19 digs while Armstrong (14) and McCloskey (13) rounded out the four in double figures.
The Bobcats travel to York (Pa.) this Wednesday for a Capital Athletic Conference match at 7:00 pm.
