FROSTBURG, Md. – Junior
Matt Greene (Westminster, Md./South Carroll (Hagerstown)) continues to collect postseason awards as he was named to the d3baseball.com All-America Second Team, announced Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier this week, Greene was selected to the ABCA All-Region Mid-Atlantic Second team and was an All-AMCC First Team honoree and now can add All-American Second Team honors to the list.
Greene helped the Bobcats to a 32-13 overall recond and a first-place regular season finish in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and a runner's up finish in the 2010 conference championship.
Greene left his mark on the FSU record books after an impressive first season in Bobcat uniform. He holds seven FSU single season records including runs scored (60), hits (78), doubles (24), homeruns (14), RBIs (60), extra basehits (40) and total bases (148). Over the course of the season, Greene had two 10+ game hitting streaks, a 16-game hitting streak to start his season and a 13-game streak while reaching base safely in all but two of the Bobcats' 45 games. He led the Bobcats with a .448 batting average and led the AMCC and Bobcats with a .851 slugging percentage. His record-setting numbers in homeruns, doubles and total bases was also good enough to lead the AMCC. Greene finished his season with a .932 fielding percentage, fielding a team-leading 27 double plays.
Greene is the first Bobcat to be named to the d3baseball.com All-America teams since its inception in 2007.
