FROSTBURG, Md. - The 2010 Frostburg State volleyball schedule has been released as the Bobcats move into Capital Athletic Conference action and transition out of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
The Bobcats are coming off their third-straight AMCC crown and trip to the NCAA tournament. Although losing the three-time AMCC Player of the Year Brooke Winterling to graduation, FSU will look to first team honoree senior
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and second team selections juniors
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa. / Susquehannock) and
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md. / Glenelg) to lead the team to another impressive season in its first year of competition in the CAC.
FSU opens its season hosting Washington & Jefferson in Bobcat Arena on Sept.1. The team will then travel that weekend to compete in the Haverford tournament on Sept. 4-5 in Haverford, Pa. The Bobcats come back home on Sept. 8 to host Gettysburg and kick off a week of home matches. On Sept. 10-11, FSU hosts the Frostburg State University Tournament and ends its homestand with McDaniel on Sept. 15.
On Sept. 17, Frostburg State will travel to Bridgewater to compete in its tournament before traveling to Gevena College on Sept. 22. The Bobcats will kickoff CAC play on Sept. 25 when they host a tri-match with CAC's Salisbury University and former AMCC rival Penn State Behrend. FSU continues conference play to end the month of September on the 29th when it hosts Stevenson.
To kickoff the month of October, FSU will travel to CAC opponent Marymount to compete in a tri-match with Washington College on Oct. 2. The Bobcats continue conference play as they travel to Mary Washington on Oct. 6. FSU will then compete in back-to-back multi-team matches first heading to Lebanon Valley College to play in a quad match with LVC, Neumann and Bridgewater on Oct. 8-9 and then FSU will host a tri-match on Oct. 16 with CAC opponent York and former AMCC oppoenent Penn State Altoona.
In the middle of October, FSU will travel to CAC opponet Hood on Oct. 19 and then to CAC opponent St. Mary's (Md.) for a quad-match with Lancaster Bible and Messiah. The Bobcats host Wesley on Oct. 26 for their final regular season conference match and rounds out their season with a tri-match at Elizabethtown with Goucher.
The CAC play-offs begin on Nov. 2 at 7:00 pm.
