Softball Placed in Newport News Regional of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - It's now official as the Frostburg State softball team was selected to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program's history, earlier today. The Bobcats were placed in the Newport News Regional hosted by Christopher Newport and FSU will play Susquehanna at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 13 in the opening round.

The 60-team bracket for the 2010 tournament was released by the NCAA this morning and the eight teams in the regional include host CNU (36-8), Eastern Mennonite University (19-16), Frostburg State University (29-14), Greensboro College (27-13-1), defending national champion Messiah College (35-7), Piedmont College (29-10), top seed Salisbury University (33-2) and Susquehanna University (32-11).

The Bobcats take on the Crusaders in the third contest of the opening round and the meeting will be the first ever between the two squads.
