Game 2
It's the eighth sweep of the season for the Bobcats as they improve to 24-14 on the year, while Stevenson falls to 23-16 overall.
Tapman added two hits in the sweep and now has 151 for her career, passing the previous mark of 150. She now holds almost every major career hitting record in FSU history including RBIs, homeruns, runs scored and total bases. She needs just two triples to set that record as well.
Tapman, the reigning ECAC South and AMCC Player of the Week, finished the afternoon 2-for-6 with three RBIs, a homerun and a run scored. She has now hit five homeruns in her last eight games.
From her leadoff position, senior
Lindsay Freitag (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) had four hits (4-for-7), with three RBIs, a run scored, a triple and a homerun. Sophomore
Jenna Delaney (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge) finished 3-for-7 with three RBIs and a run.
The Bobcats plated two runs in the third inning of the opener and limited the Mustangs to just a single run in the sixth. Tapman and Freitag each smacked solo homeruns to account for both Bobcat runs. The Mustangs hurt themselves in game one, stranding 12 base runners and failing to capitalize on 11 hits.
Sophomore
Megan Magee (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Holy Spirit) picked up her 13th win of the season, holding the SU to just one unearned run while striking out five.
The offense got in rhythm in game two for FSU as it had 13 hits and improved to 15-1 on the season when it records 10 or more hits in a game.
Frostburg struck in the third inning when Tapman had a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead. Delaney hit her second homerun of the season, a three-run shot to center, in the fourth and Tapman later added another sacrifice fly as FSU surged ahead 5-0.
Freitag and freshman
Taylor Vandegrift (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) each had RBIs in the fifth and both accounted for two insurance runs in the seventh.
Junior starter
Megan Henne (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) tossed 7.0 innings, fanned five and limited the Mustangs to just one unearned run in the sixth inning.
Frostburg State ends its regular season on Saturday when it travels to AMCC rival Penn State Behrend at 1:00 pm.
