FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State men's tennis team defeated non-conference opponent, Waynesburg, 6-3, Thursday afternoon, for its second-straight win.
The Bobcats are now 9-6 on the season as two players picked up a pair of wins on the afternoon and as a team swept the doubles competition.
Sophomore
Michael Stevenson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and junior
Ramon Gutierrez (Gilbert, Ariz./West Ferris Secondary School) picked up the No. 1 doubles win against Peter Mally and Emile Khoany (8-1) while sophomore
Tyler Forster (Taneytown, Md. / Francis Scott Key) and classmate
Eddie McMurtrie (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) defeated Jeff Canning and Adam Woodcuff (8-3). Freshmen
Christian Ernst (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) and
Zach Repp (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) defeated Jason Logan and Jon Anderson in the number three doubles competition (8-6) to complete the sweep.
In the No. 1 singles match, Stevenson won against Mally (6-0, 6-0) for his second win of the afternoon while Ernst picked up his second win over Woodruff, 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 4 singles match. Junior
Josh Galvez (Adelphi, Md./Montgomery Blair) picked up the win in the number five singles match over Logan, 6-2, 6-1, for the last Bobcat win of the afternoon.
