Wright and James Named to All-AMCC Squads

GIBSONIA, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's basketball finished its season with both of its seniors earning selections to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference teams as announced Tuesday afternoon.

Seniors Brittany James (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill), a first-team honoree, and Caryn Wright (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech), a second-team selection, helped the Bobcats to a 19-8 overall record and a 15-5 AMCC AMCC mark. FSU made the AMCC tournament for the second year and a row and fell in the semi's to Pitt-Bradford, who took second place at the tournament.

James started in 26 games posting a career-high 13 double-doubles, led the AMCC for the second season in offensive rebounds (5.0) and was fourth in the conference in total rebounds (10.7) and fifth in defensive rebounds (5.7) and fourth in steals (2.5). She finished fifth in the league in scoring (15.5) and third in field-goal percentage (52.5).

James earned AMCC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 1 after averaging 23.0 points per game and 17.5 rpg on the week, while staying perfect at the line in both games, making eight free throws on eight attempts. James also joined the 1,000 point club for the Bobcats during their defeat of Hilbert, 78-37 on Feb. 20.

Wright finished the season with eight double-doubles in 23 starts at the center position. She led the Bobcats and finished fourth in the league in defensive rebounding (6.1). She was also fifth in the AMCC in total rebounds (9.6), fourth in offensive rebounds (3.5), second in the AMCC and first on the team in field-goal percentage (53.6) and 10th in scoring (13.3). Wright led the team and was sixth in the conference in blocks (1.3)

Wright joined James in the 1,000 point club in the 2009-10 season after scoring 16 points in the AMCC Tournament semifinals round loss to Pitt-Bradford.

UPG's Kelsey Wilcox was named the AMCC's Player of the Year for the second year in a row, Taylor Lotis of Penn State Behrend was voted as the league's Newcomer of the Year and teammate Amy Oldach was named Defensive Player of the Year and Pete Lonergan of Medaille was awarded the Coach of the Year award after leading the team to a regular season and conference first place finish this season.
