CLERMONT, Fla. – Frostburg State snuck past Concordia (Wisc.) for a 3-1 victory in eight innings on the third day of its spring break trip, Wednesday. However, the Bobcats dropped their second game of the afternoon to Bowdoin, 2-1, for FSU’s second split in as many days.
In the opening win, junior
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) singled home two runs in the top of the eighth to break a 1-1 deadlock.
FSU registered six hits during the contest and rallied from a 1-0 deficit when junior
Victoria Krichbaum (Olney, Md./Sherwood) singled home a run in the top of the sixth.
Sophomore
Megan Magee (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Holy Spirit) threw all 8.0 innings with four strikeouts as she earned her third victory of spring break.
In the second game, Bowdoin scored a run in the top of the third inning for a 2-1 edge and then held the Bobcats to just two hits and no runs in their final five at bats.
Magee struckout five and held Bowdoin to just two earned runs but suffered her first loss of the trip.
Senior
Lindsay Freitag (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) scored Frostburg’s only run. She reached on an error in the first inning and later scored on another error to tie the game at 1-1.

Samantha Quirin (Lovettsville, Va./Loudoun Valley) and sophomore
Beth Whitehead (Jessup, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) each had a hit in the loss for FSU.
Frostburg returns to action on Thursday when it faces Cortland State at 11:30 am and Plattsburgh at 3:30 pm.
