Lauren Russell (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) and sophomore
Amanda Wharton (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) each scored three goals and added an assist to power the Frostburg State women's soccer team to a 10-0 victory over Pitt-Greensburg, Tuesday evening.

The game remained scoreless through the first 13 minutes of action, but then FSU (10-2) broke through with six goals over the next 13 minutes and carried a 6-0 lead into halftime. It's the third time this season that Frostburg State has scored six goals in a single half.
In the second period, the goals came in pairs as FSU scored two goals in a five minute span starting in the 46th minute and again in the 81st minute. The victory is the seventh shutout of the season and sixth game with five or more goals as Frostburg is currently 10th in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 3.82 goals per game, and 47th in shutout percentage (54.5).
Russell's hat trick was the sixth of her career and the second against UPG as she accomplished the feat in 2008. Russell scored back-to-back goals in the 15th and 17th minutes and completed her hat trick with her final score in the 23rd minute.
Wharton put Frostburg on the scoreboard with her first tally in the 13th minute. However, she had to wait until the second half to complete her three-goal effort. She was responsible for the first set of goals in the second half as she found the net at 46:21 and again at 51:02. It was Wharton's seventh career hat trick and second against Pitt-Greensburg.

Dorie Gedridge (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) recorded two goals to cap the game's scoring as she found the net at 81:00 and again at 87:01.
Seniors
Kierstin Stevenson (Frostburg, Md./Beall) and
Taylor Jenkins (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) each scored first half goals while Jenkins added an assist on Russell's third goal. Sophomore
Liz Seligman (Rockville, Md./St. Johns College) was credited with her fifth assist of the season on Wharton's first score of the game and senior
Shonna Ferree (Frostburg, Md./Beall) and freshman
Chelsea Paskowski (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) recorded second half assists.
