Men's Soccer Loses Season Finale to Stevenson 4-1

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Sophomore Scott Wasser (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) scored his first goal of the season, but Frostburg State came up just short of earning a spot in the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Tournament with a 4-1 loss to Stevenson, Thursday.

The Bobcats end their season with a 4-10-3 overall mark and a 1-4-3 slate in their first season in the CAC.

FSU surrendered three first half goals to the Mustangs (11-5-1, 4-3-1) who are the No. 3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Tyler King scored at the 5:13 mark for SU, but Wasser pulled Frostburg even with an unassisted tally from the top of the box at 18:23.

Stevenson took the lead just 20 seconds later when Matthew Liska scored off a rebound for a 2-1 lead. SU added to its lead at 34:13 when Justin Carver scored on a crossed ball from the left side.

Stevenson, which dominated the first half offensively outshooting FSU 8-1, scored its final goal in the 62 minute when Josh Stover scored off a cross, this time from the right side.

SU finished with a 16-5 edge in shots and a 9-2 lead in corner kicks.

In his final game for the Bobcats, senior keeper Stephen Cavallo (Charlotte, N.C./East Lincoln) stopped eight shots, four in each half. His eight saves are just three shy of his career high.
