ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Frostburg State University volleyball team extended its winning streak to six matches with a 3-0 win against Lancaster Bible Friday at a quad-match at St. Mary's (Md.) College.
The Bobcats, ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic Region, cruised to a 25-23, 25-15 and 25-12 victory with a slew of solid efforts on the court. Senior
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) turned in 10 digs, seven kills, three aces, three blocks and two assists. The three aces give her an even 70 for the season, good for sixth all-time in a single year.
Seniors
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) posted another double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs. She also added one ace and one assist to the mix. Fellow senior
Brittany McVearry (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) collected 13 digs.
Four juniors played an important role in FSU (25-3) earning its 18th shutout of the season.
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) handed out 33 assists to go along with five digs, one block and one ace.
Christine Barnes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) finished with three digs and two aces.
Junior sisters
Amber Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) and
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) combined for nine kills and seven blocks. Amber Winterling had five kills, three digs, two blocks and one ace while Sabrina totaled five blocks and four kills.
Freshman
Alexandria McLeod (Lanham, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) recorded one block and one kill.
FSU returns to action tomorrow when it takes on St. Mary's in a key Capital Athletic Conference match at 11:00 am.
