ARLINGTON, Va. - The Frostburg State volleyball team posted two more shutouts and cruised to 3-0 victories over Marymount University and Washington College, Saturday. The Bobcats improved their record to 18-2 overall and 3-0 in the Capital Athletic Conference.

The Bobcats hit over .300 percent in five of the six sets and didn't allow either team to score more than 19 points in any game.
In the first match of the day, FSU downed Marymount in CAC play by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-18. Senior
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) posted a game-high 14 kills and junior
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) handed out 27 assists. Senior
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) led the team with nine digs while Stephens and senior
Brittany McVearry (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) had eight digs each.
Stephens had four kills late in the opener to help break open a close 15-14 game. Stephens posted back-to-back kills for a 21-16 lead and Thomas posted her only solo block of the afternoon for the final point and a 25-18 FSU win.
In the second, Frostburg State used a 6-1 run in the middle of the game for a 19-10 lead. MU narrowed the gap to 22-15 but Thomas again finished off the set, this time with a service ace for the 25-15 win.
The Saints didn't back down in the thrid game, battling FSU to a 13-13 tie. However, Frostburg State used a 4-0 spurt late in the contest for a 23-17 lead and Thomas capped the set again when she set freshman
Alexandria McLeod (Lanham, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) for a kill and the final point.
The Bobcats hit .379 with 46 kills in a sweep of Washington in the second match. FSU won game one 25-19 and then cruised behind 25-12 and 25-8 scores in the final two sets.
Stephens smacked 16 kills, followed by junior
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) with 14 and Thomas with 10. McVearry had 10 digs and Carrington handed out 26 assists. Freshman
Jessica Hair (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) added three kills, junior
Christine Barnes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) recorded 10 assists and sophomore
Shari Beavers (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill) turned in five digs.
In the first set of the three-game series, FSU posted a 7-2 run and assumed a 17-11 lead. The Shoreman narrowed the gap to four, 21-17, but Thomas again finished off the set with a kill and an ace for the 25-19 victory.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 9-4 advantage in the second and never looked back. Leading by six, 13-7, Frostburg State collected a 6-2 run and Thomas posted two kills and an assist late in the set for a 25-12 win.
FSU rolled to a 25-8 victory in game three behind a 9-0 run to end the set. The Bobcats also posted a pair of 3-0 spurts and a 4-0 run early in the game.
The Bobcats travel to Mary Washington for a CAC match on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:00 pm.
