FROSTBURG, Md. - Junior setter
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) posted a pair of double-doubles and the Frostburg State volleyball team earned a pair of wins at a tri-match at Bobcat Arena, Saturday. FSU pushed its record to 23-3 overall and 5-0 in the league.
The Bobcats remained undefeated in the CAC with a key 3-1 victory over York (Pa.). The Spartans entered this past week undefeated but have dropped three of their last four matches and sit at 23-3 overall and 3-2 in the league.
FSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead on YCP with a 25-22 game one victory. York captured the second set 25-20, but the Bobacts prevailed with 25-22 and 25-21 wins over the final two sets.
Carrington handed out 38 assists and recorded 12 digs while senior
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) led all FSU players with 17 kills, seven digs, two aces and a block.
Junior
Amber Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) finished just behind Stephens and tied a season-high with 15 kills. She also added eight digs, one block and one ace. Senior
Brittany McVearry (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) turned in 19 digs and two aces.
Junior
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) totaled 13 kills, three blocks and one block.
The Bobcats needed just three sets to move past Penn State Altoona in the third match of the afternoon. FSU posted scores of 25-24, 25-19 and 25-21.
Carrington finished with 35 assists and 10 digs, Stephens posted 15 kills and seven digs and Amber Winterling had 12 kills and seven digs. McVearry posted just five digs and Sabrina Winterling had eight kills and four blocks.
In two matches, senior
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) totaled 16 kills, five aces, eight assists, 19 digs and four blocks. Junior
Christine Barnes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) finished with five aces and six digs in both matches.
Frostburg State continues CAC action on Tuesday when it travels to Hood at 7:00 pm.
