GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team lost its second-straight game to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg, 77-66, on Wednesday evening.

FSU now has an overall record of 10-4 and a conference record of 7-2 while UPG is 9-5 overall and 7-2 in the AMCC.
Pitt-Greensburg shot 47.5 percent (29-of-61), including 57.1 percent (16-of-28) during the first half, from within the paint while Frostburg State only shot 35.4 percent (23-of-65).
The game was tied twice in the first half with the last coming at the 12:24 mark after junior
Lisa Byer (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh (Allegany College)) netted a jumper to even the score at 14-14.
Over the next ten minutes, UPG pulled away from FSU by as much as 13 points ending with a layup from Amanda Sheaffer, 38-25. Frostburg State cut the 13-point deficit to ten going into the break after a jumper from junior
Elizabeth Carrington (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) with 40 seconds left in the half, 39-29.
In the first three minutes of the second half, Frostburg State scored eight consecutive points to get within four points of Pitt-Greensburg, 41-37, with four of those points coming from senior
Caryn Wright (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech.).
The teams continued to trade points until FSU slowly chipped away at UPG's lead to tie the game at 47-47 with 13:17 remaining in the half after a three pointer from freshman Stephanie Straka (Jerome, Pa./Conemaugh Township).
Pitt-Greensburg pulled away from Frostburg State after a seven-point scoring run with less than 12 minutes left in play, 54-47, to regain the lead. FSU was only able to get within four points of UPG over the remainder of the game and Pitt-Greensburg expanded its lead to as much as 12 points until the end score of 77-66.
Senior
Brittany James (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) netted a game-high 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while Carrington posted 20 points and six boards. Wright also scored in the double-digits for Frostburg State with 12. UPG's Casey Stanton netted 15 points while Kesley Wilcox had 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
FSU returns to action on Saturday January 16th when it travels to AMCC opponent HIlbert for a 1:00 pm matchup.
