WASHINGTON, Pa. - Senior
Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) smashed 13 kills as the Frostburg State volleyball team swept non-conference opponent Washington & Jefferson, 3-0, for its third-straight win, Monday.
Frostburg State (5-1) defeated the Presidents (2-2) with game scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22.
Junior
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and sophomore
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) each posted eight kills in addition to Brooke Winterling's 13 to aid in the win for the Bobcats. Stephens also recorded 12 digs and one service ace while Brooke Winterling had seven digs.
Leading the Bobcats in assists was sophomore
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) with 29 while junior
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) led the team in digs with 15. Thomas also posted three blocks in the win over the Presidents and Sabrina Winterling chipped in two.
Sophomore
Christine Barnes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) aided in the victory with two services aces while junior
Brittany McVearry (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) recorded one service ace and 10 digs.
The Bobcats are back on the court at the Gettysburg College Blast when they take on Mary Washington on September 11 at 5:00 pm
