FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State women's tennis team defeated Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford, 8-1 on Saturday afternoon, giving the team an overall record of 1-0.

Freshmen Elly Dannenfelser (Joppa, Md. / John Carroll) and Megan Martin (Richmond, Va. / Mills Goodwin) defeated Renee Total and Sarah Fowkes in the number one doubles match with a score of 8-3. Senior Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and junior Vicky Stafford (Lee, N.H. / Oyster River ) picked up the number two doubles match victory against Natalie Freed and Leslie Shallop with a score of 8-6.

Senior Monie Cuddahee (Thurmont, Md. / Catoctin) and sophomore Ashley Kuhns (Latrobe, Pa. / Derry Area) defeated Kayla Branch and Natalie Weiss in the number three doubles match 8-1.

In the number one singles match, freshmen Dannenfelser defeated Renee Total with scores of 6-2 and 6-4 while in the No. 2 singles match junior Stafford won against Sarah Fowkes (6-4, 6-2).

In the number four singles match, freshman Martin defeated Leslie Shallop with scores of 6-2 and 6-0 and in the No. 4 singles match sophomore Jannil Sites (Waynesboro, Pa. / James Buchanan) picked up another win against Kayla Branch (6-0, 6-3).

In the number six singles match, sophomore Kuhns won against Natalie Weiss with scores of 6-0 and 6-0.
