PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Frostburg State women's tennis team defeated Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford, 9-0 on Saturday afternoon to boost its winning streak to four games and hand FSU its second-straight match shutout.
FSU improved its overall record to 9-2 and continues to be perfect, 6-0, in AMCC play.
Five different Bobcats picked up two wins Saturday afternoon against Pitt-Bradford. Freshmen Elly Dannenfelser (Joppa, Md./John Carroll) and Megan Martin (Richmond, Va./Mills Goodwin) not only won their singles matches, but together won in the No. 1 doubles match to defeat Renee Total and Sarah Fowkes. Senior Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) picked up one of her wins by defeatin Natalie Freed and Leslie Shallop in the No. 2 doubles match with partner senior Monie Cuddahee (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin). Shedd was also successful in the No. 2 singles match defeating Renee Total for her seond win of the day.
Senior Liz Coblentz (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) and sophomore Ashley Kuhns (Latrobe, Pa./Derry Area) defeated Kayla Brand and Stefania Okolie in the No. 3 doubles competition for each of their first wins. Coblentz went on to defeat Leslie Shallop in the No. 4 singles match and Kuhns defeated Stefanie Okolie in the No. 6 singles match for their second wins of the competition.
Sophomore Jannil Sites (Waynesboro, Pa./James Buchanan) defeated Kayla Branch in the No. 5 singles match in the perfect day for the Bobcats.
