ALTOONA, Pa. - Four players had two wins as the Frostburg State women's tennis team defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Altoona, 7-2, and pushed its winning streak to four, Thursday.
The Bobcats have an overall record of 8-2 and remain undefeated in conference play (5-0).
Senior
Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown), junior
Vicky Stafford (Lee, N.H./Oyster River) and freshmen
Elly Dannenfelser (Joppa, Md./John Carroll) and
Megan Martin (Richmond, Va./Mills Goodwin) all picked up two wins on the day for Frostburg State.
Dannenfelser and Martin won against Melissa Barba and Ashley Eisenbeis (8-4) in the number one doubles competition while Shedd and Stafford defeated Michelle Harrison and Emily Knott (8-3) in the No. 2 doubles match.
In the number one singles competition, Dannenfelser defeated Barba (6-3, 7-5) and Stafford picked up her second win of the day against Knott in the second singles match (6-4, 6-0). Shedd won against Harrison in the number three singles match with scores of 6-2, 7-5.
Martin defeated Eisenbeis in the fourth singles competition (0-6, 6-2, 6-3) while senior
Liz Coblentz (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) picked up the win in the No. 5 singles match (6-0, 6-1).
