PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Frostburg Volleyball won both games on the second and last day of the Carnegie Mellon Crossover Tournament against John Carroll, 3-0, and Carnegie Mellon, also 3-0.
In the first game, Frostburg State defeated John Caroll (7-8) with scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-9.
Sophomore
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) notched 33 assists, along with a kill, ace, and block. Senior
Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) had 15 kills, nine kills, five service aces, and four blocks.
Junior
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) led in digs with 16, while classmate
Brittany McVearry (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) recorded four service aces. Thomas had seven kills and McVearry had eight digs.
In game two, the Bobcats defeated Carnegie Mellon (8-4) with scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-18.
Kylie Carrington posted another 39 assists in the second game, including three kills, an ace and a block. Again Brooke Winterling led the team with 15 more kills, also grabbing seven digs and two aces. Brooke's sister, sophomore
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg), and Thomas both had four blocks each in the second game. Sabrina Winterling also had two kills and Thomas included seven kills and six digs.
Junior
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) contributed 12 kills, eight digs and two blocks. Also with two blocks was senior
Chelsea Wassell (Westernport, Md./Southern Garrett), as well as seven kills.
The Bobcats are back at home Wednesday, September 23 versus Geneva at 6:00 pm.
