Tapman Named to NFCA All-Region First Team

STARKVILLE, Mass. - The Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2009 Division III All-Region teams and Frostburg State sophomore outfielder Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) was honored by being selected to the Atlantic Region First Team. The all-region selection is the first for the Bobcats since Amanda Baldwin in 2006 and fourth in school history.

Tapman had an outstanding season with the Bobcats (26-18) helping them to the ECAC Tournament while setting several single-season school records in the process. A two-time All-AMCC selection and First Team honoree this spring, Tapman led the AMCC and the Bobcats in five categories with 42 runs scored, 58 hits, 43 RBIs, 15 homeruns and 118 total bases.

On the season, she is hitting .443 with an .901 slugging percentage and a .519 on-base percentage. In just her second year, Tapman captured the school record for career homeruns (21) and set single season marks in games (44), runs scored, hits, homeruns, RBIs, extra base hits (26) and total bases.

Tapman joins four other AMCC players selected to the all-region teams, two from both Penn State Behrend and Pitt-Bradford. However, Tapman is the lone Atlantic selection as the other two schools compete in the East Region. Salisbury, Christopher Newport and Rhodes College led the way with six selections each on the Atlantic Region teams.
