GIBSONIA, Pa. - Three players from the Frostburg State softball team have been named to the 2009 All-Allegheny Mountain Collgiate Conference Team, highlighted by sophomore
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) who was named to the first team, Wednesday.
Tapman, a second team honoree last spring, is one of three members from this season's Bobcat squad that finished runner-up in the AMCC Tournament Championship this past weekend. Tapman leads the AMCC and the Bobcats (26-17) in five categories with 40 runs scored, 56 hits, 41 RBIs, 14 homeruns and 113 total bases. On the season, Tapman is hitting .438 with an .883 slugging percentage and a .516 on-base percentage. In just her second year, Tapman captured the school record for career homeruns (20) and set several single season school records including games (43), runs scored, hits, homeruns, RBIs, extra base hits (25) and total bases.
Freshman pitcher
Megan Magee (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Holy Spirit) earns her first spot on the All-AMCC team, garnering second team honors, after leading the AMCC with 160.1 innings pitched, 132 strikeouts, 25 appearances and 23 games started. She posted a 16-7 overall record with five shutouts and a save. She is tied for the single season school record in complete games and is tied for second in shutouts.
Junior pitcher
Katelyn Coffey (Middletown, Md./Middletown) captured All-AMCC honors for the third-straight season after being placed on the honorable mention team. The 2007 AMCC Co-Newcomer of the Year, posted a 10-10 record with 80 strikeouts and three shutouts. Coffey set several FSU career records this season including games started (58), innings pitched (380.2), complete games (52) and wins (35).
Frostburg State returns to the field this afternoon when it travels to Misericordia for the opening round of the ECAC Tournament at 4:00 pm.
