FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State University softball team won twice against Stevenson University in a non-conference doubleheader on senior day Sunday for its fourth sweep at Bobcat Field this season. FSU rallied for a 4-2 game one win and held on for a 2-1 victory in the second contest.

In the opener, the Bobcats (23-14) trailed 2-0 through the first four and a half innings before plating the decisive four runs in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs in the frame, FSU senior
Jayme Miller (Accident, Md./Northern) singled home the first run followed by a two-run triple from junior
Lindsay Freitag (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) that gave the Bobcats a 3-1 lead. Freshman
Beth Whitehead (Jessup, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) recorded the final run with a single to center that scored Freitag.
Junior
Katelyn Coffey (Middletown, Md./Middletown) earned her ninth win of the season after tossing 7.0 innings, scattering nine hits and allowing just one earned run. Julianne Roper took the loss for the Mustangs (13-11) after allowing all four runs in the fifth.
In the second game, freshman starter
Megan Magee (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Holy Spirit) worked out of a bases loaded one out jam in the sixth to help FSU earn a 2-1 victory.
Frostburg State scored two runs in the bottom of the second on back-to-back singles to left field from Magee and Miller. In the sixth, Stevenson's Sarah Moelter singled home a run with the bases loaded but Lisa Bilski was thrown out at third on the same play to give the Mustangs two outs with the game tying run on second base. Magee then received a ground out to third base to end the inning.
Magee finished with six strikeouts while allowing six hits and one unearned run for her 14th win of the season. Moelter took the loss after allowing two runs on seven hits.
Miller and Freitag led the Bobcats at the dish. Miller finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored while Freitag was 2-for-7 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Frostburg State returns to the field on Monday, April 27 when it travels to Pitt-Greensburg for completion of a doubleheader that ended due to darkness earlier this season.
