Women's Lacrosse Hammers Medaille 18-4

FROSTBURG, Md. – Thirteen different players found the net for Frostburg State including three goals each from both senior Meredith Martin (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) and junior Elisabeth Hildebrand (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) as the Bobcats hammered Medaille, 18-4, in women's lacrosse, Saturday afternoon on senior day.

The Bobcats, winners of four-straight, are now 6-7 overall on the season while the Mavericks slip to 2-6. Frostburg State dominated in shots (44-15) and draw controls (15-9) and was nearly perfect in clears (15-of-16).

The trio of Martin and freshmen Rachel Frank (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) and Joanna McIntire (Damascus, Md./Damascus) led the way in scoring with four points each. Martin tallied three goals and an assist, McIntire found the net twice and handed out two more assists while Frank scored once and had three assists.

FSU opened the game with a 10-0 lead and never looked back as it led 14-1 at the half. Medaille faired better in the second half, finding the net three times but the Bobcats scored four more times including the game's final two.

Frank and McIntire had a hand in the game's first four goals. Frank assisted the first two goals, both scored by Hildebrand, and scored the third off a feed from McIntire. McIntire then assisted freshman Michelle Lagoy (Frostburg, Md./Calvert) for a 4-0 Frostburg State lead.

Four Bobcats added a goal and an assist in the victory: Lagoy along with juniors Kelly Meinecke (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) and Katie Danneman (Herndon, Va./Paul VI Catholic) and freshman Ali Kapustin (Columbia, Md./Marriotts Ridge).

Juniors Marissa Henderson (Pasadena, Md./Northeast), Davia Procida (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) and freshmen Kayla Woodward (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora), Alysia Parlis (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk), Brittany Spencer (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) each scored solo goals while sophomore Megan Dent-Carman (LaVale, Md./Mercersburg Academy) added an assist.

In net, senior Erin Morrell (Easton, Md./Easton) earned the victory after making two saves and allowing just one goal in the first half while freshman Tori Butts (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) made four saves in the second half and allowed three goals. Betty Herberger endured the loss after making 17 saves and allowing all 18 goals.

The Bobcats return to action tomorrow when they travels to Goucher at 1:00 pm.
