Men's Tennis Picks Up Win Against Pitt-Bradford, 8-1

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Frostburg State men's tennis team defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford, 8-1, as six different players picked up individuals wins on Thursday.

Frostburg State has an overall record of 6-6 and an AMCC record of 4-3.

Seniors Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and Jeff Lesky (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) picked up the win in the No. 1 doubles competition against Roberto Pombosa and Bryan Ocampo with a score of 8-3.

Freshmen Ryan Miller (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Eddie McMurtrie (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) defeated Mike Teresi and Matt Lee in the number two doubles match (9-8) while classmate Steve French (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Mike Hurst won against Mickey Sheahan and Josh Kinney to capture the third doubles victory (8-1).

Shedd defeated Pombosa in the No. 1 singles competition (4-0, retired) and McMurtire picked up the win in the second singles match against Teresi (6-4, 6-2).

In the third singles competition, Hurst captured the win after defeating Kinney with scores of 6-2, 6-1. Leskey won against Ocampo in the No. 4 singles match (6-0, 6-4) while French defeated Sheahan in the number five singles competition (6-2, 6-0).
