FROSTBURG, Md. – Katelyn Yandle had two assists and the No. 17 Christopher Newport field hockey team scored a goal in each half to outpace Frostburg State in the regular season finale for both teams, Saturday.

The Bobcats season comes to a close with a 9-11 overall record while the Captains (15-3) await a possible NCAA Tournament bid.
The FSU defense held the CNU scoring offense in check. CNU entered the contest averaging 3.47 goals per game but the Bobcat defense and freshman goalkeeper
Maggie Edwards (Lebanon, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) kept the score close. Edwards finished with eight saves, four in each half.
Both teams were unable to find the net for much of the opening half until Emma Mehrabi scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 31st minute for a 1-0 CNU lead.
The second half looked like the first half as both squads battled for much of the period without finding the net. CNU eventually sealed the victory when Kelsey Rigby scored at 64:02.
Christopher Newport held the edge offensively, attempting 20 shots while limiting FSU to just three.
