FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State men's and women's swimming teams picked up a total of 16 first-place finishes as they defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Altoona in its conference opener, on Saturday afternoon.

The men defeated PSA by a score of 136-58 while the women's squad picked up the win against the Lions (125-62).

Arielle Harding (Damascus, Md./Good Counsel) and freshmen
Alix Bunten (Herndon, Va./Herndon),
Sam Mulvey (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and
Caleb Stair (Hyndman, Pa./Hyndman) all had two individual wins on the day for the Bobcats.
Roberto captured first place in the 200-meter freestyle (2:25.53) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:14.45) while Harding placed first in the 200-meter individual medley (2:42.11) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:20.65).
Bunten picked up her two individuals wins in the 100-meter butterfly (1:13.80) and the 400-meter freestyle (5:15.98) and Mulvey finished first in the 50-meter freestyle (29.64) and 100-meter freestyle (1:05.05).
For the men, Samakow captured first in the 200-meter freestyle (2:12.40) and 100-meter freestyle with a time of 58.20. Stair posted two first-place finishes in the 100-meter butterfly (1:05.13) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.20).
Senior
Jack Hudson (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) also recorded a first-place finish for the Bobcats in the 800-meter freestyle touching the wall with a time of 9:52.11.
Three of the four relays for Frostburg State captured first-place finishes on the day. In the 200-meter medley relays, Roberto, Harding, Bunten and Mulvey joined together to place first for the women (2:12.89) while freshman
Trevor Kozlow (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) and senior
Josh Green (New Market, Md./Linganore) joined Stair and Samakow to touch the wall first for the men with a time of 1:59.58.
Freshmen
James Hibbert (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) and
Jeffrey Lewis (Dowell, Md./Patuxent) joined senior
Chris Karlheim (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) and junior
Justin Zimmerman (LaVale, Md./Allegany) to finish first for FSU in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:55.60.
The Bobcats are back in the pool at home against non-conference opponent Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday, November 4 at 6:00 pm.
