Volleyball Sweeps La Roche to Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Frostburg State volleyball team swept Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent La Roche, 3-0, for its seventh-straight win and remained in conference play, Tuesday evening.

Frostburg State (26-4, 8-0) downed LAR (2-25, 0-10) with game scores of 25-10, 25-13, and 25-14.

Sophomore Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) led the Bobcat squad with 21 assists, three aces, three digs and two kills. Carrington has surpassed the milestone of 2,000 career assists, having posted a total of 2,144 assists over the past two years.

Junior Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) smashed eight kills against the Redhawks and senior Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) had six. Stephens also recorded one dig and a service ace while Brooke Winterling posted six digs, one block and one service ace in the win. Over the past few matches, Stephens has also eclipsed the 1,000 career kill mark having recorded 1,029 kills in her three years of play.

Sophomore Margie Maresca (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) posted five kills and senior Chelsea Wassell (Westernport, Md./Southern Garrett) had four kills, two blocks and one dig.

Juniors Brittany McVearry (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and Bekah Litz (Edgewater, Md./South River) both recorded two service aces while McVearry chipped in six digs.

Sophomore Amber Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) had four digs and two kills while senior Caryn Wright (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech) posted two blocks and two kills in the win for the Bobcats.

Junior Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) also hit another milestone for the Bobcats over the past couple of matches. Thomas has recorded over 1,000 career digs with 1,060 digs in three years.

Frostburg State closes out conference action as it takes on AMCC opponents Hilbert (1:00 pm) and Medaille (3:30 pm) in Hamburg, N.Y. on Saturday October 31.
