Breanne Russell (Clements, Md./Chopticon) and
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) each scored a goal as the Frostburg State field hockey team defeated Stevenson University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a 2-0 score, Stevenson (4-10) led the Bobcats (7-7) in both shots (22-10) and penalty corners (11-6). FSU snapped a five-game losing streak with its second shutout of the season.
Frostburg State jumped out to an early lead over Stevenson when Russell netted her goal at the 4:00 mark, putting the Bobcats on the board, 1-0. Neither team's offense was able to score for the remainder of the first half, giving FSU a one-point advantage going into the break.
The game remained 1-0 until the 70th minute when Tapman scored an unassisted goal from 12 yards out to give the end score 2-0.
Frostburg State goalkeeper
Maggie Edwards (Lebanon, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) stopped 10 saves in the win while Mustang goalie Kara Zimmerman recorded four saves.
Frostburg State returns to action on Sunday, October 18 at Wesely at 2:00 pm.
