Women's Basketball Wins Fourth Straight

CRESSON, Pa. – Senior Jamie Morningstar (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) hit four three-point baskets to lead the Frostburg State women’s basketball team past Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mt. Aloysius, Wednesday evening.

Morningstar led Frostburg State scorers with 14 points and five rebounds in the 68-51 victory.

Three Bobcat’s finished the contest with double-doubles led by junior Caryn Wright (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech) with her eighth of the season with 10 points and 16 rebound. Classmate Brittany James (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) had her seventh of the season as she contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman Makeda Peterson (Landover, Md./Fairmont Heights) ended the night with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

FSU picked up its fourth-straight win as they out rebounded the Mounties 20-9 on the offensive glass. The Bobcats also dominated the overall rebounds 57-35.

Frostburg State did not allow any MTA player to break double-digit scoring as they held the Mounties to 31 percent shooting with a relentless defense.

The Bobcats return to the court on Saturday, January 24 as they travel to Penn State Behrend for a 1:00 pm AMCC matchup.
