Rohrs and Leiter Lead Track and Field with NCAA Times

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- Seniors Sumer Rohrs (Frostburg, Md./Forest) and Brian Leiter (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) led the Frostburg State men's and women's track and field teams with NCAA qualifing times at the Susquehanna Open, Saturday afternoon.

Rohrs ran an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying time of 8.25 in the 55-meter hurdles to win the event. She also picked up a first-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a run of 7.42.

Leiter also picked up two first-place finishes on the afternoon as he ran an NCAA provisional qualifing time of 4:15.96 in the mile, while picking up another victory in the 800-meter run (1:58.00).

Sophomore Anne Patron (Baltimore, Md./Dulany) picked up a fifth-place finish in the 3000-meter run as she posted a time of 11:14.83.

In the field events, sophomore Emily Furr (Damascus, Md./Poolesville) captured two second-place finishes for the day as she jumped 1.57 meters in the high jump. She also took second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.44 meters, while junior Kayla Peters (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) finished ninth in the weight throw (9.66 meters).

For the men, senior Arien Heggs (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) captured fourth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.69.

Junior Dan Bloch (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) paced the men's field events placing eighth in the long jump with a distance of 5.88 meters. Bloch also had a 16th place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.92.

The men's relays had a good day against mostly Division II competition as the 4x200 relay finished third (1:36.91), while the 4x400 brought home a fourth-place finish (3:34.13).

The Bobcats return to action on January 24 at the State Farm Games hosted by West Virginia University.
