FROSTBURG, Md. - Sophomore
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) netted the final goal to lift the Frostburg State field hockey team past Randolph Macon in double overtime, 2-1, on Saturday.
FSU (1-1) outshot RMC (0-2) 22-8. The Bobcats held the Yellow Jackets to zero shots in overtime while taking 11.
Senior
Sarah Sturgill (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) netted the first goal of the game off an assist from Tapman at the 12:05 mark to give the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead. With under two minutes left in the first half, Randolph Macon's Mary McCarthy scored to give the tie game.
Neither team would score in the second half or in the first overtime sending the game into double overtime.
With just over three minutes left in the second overtime, Tapman ended the game and the scoring after she netted a goal off an assist from freshman
Sami Topolski (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin).
Sophomore goalie
Samantha Foland (Myersville, Md./Middletown) had six saves in the win while Yellow Jacket goalkeeper Ashley Crouch had 12.
FSU is back on the field at Bobcat Stadium, September 7th against Neumann College at noon.
