ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - With just under 16 minutes left in the game, Bridget McGoven scored the first and only goal of the game to lift St. Mary's past Frostburg State, Saturday afternoon.

This was the season opener for both teams giving the Seahawks a 1-0 record and the Bobcats a 0-1 record.

McGovern's unassisted goal came from a clean shot 16 yards out at the 74:11 minute-mark, giving SMC the only goal it would need.

St. Mary's outshot FSU 15-10 and FSU goalkeeper Stephanie Gwinn (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) made seven saves while SMC goalie Marie Oben had four saves on the win.

Juniors Amanda Drake (Montgomery Village, Md. / Watkins Mill), Kaleigh Herring (Perry Hall, Md. /North Harford) and Kelly Sanzone (Jarrettsville, Md. /North Harford), along with sophomore Lauren Russell (Waldorf, Md. /Westlake) all had shots on goal forcing Oben to make the save and keeping FSU from scoring.

The Bobcats are back on the field at home Wednesday September 3 at 7:00 pm.
