Kaitlyn Wagner (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) pounded out six hits and sophomore pitcher
Katelyn Coffey (Middletown, Md./Middletown) allowed just five hits in a game one shutout victory as Frostburg State swept Mt. Aloysius in an AMCC doubleheader, Tuesday. The Bobcats won game one 12-0 in six innings and took home the win in game two 9-4.
FSU is now 11-14 overall and 3-5 in the AMCC.
Wagner finished the pair of games 6-for-8 with four RBIs and two runs while sophomore
Lindsay Freitag (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) was 5-for-8 with four runs scored.
In game one, Coffey tossed her fifth shutout of the season scattering five hits and striking out two. The Bobcats posted two runs in both the first and third innings for a 4-0 lead. After a scoreless fourth, Frostburg State plated three in the fifth and five in the seventh for a 12-0 win.
Wagner was a perfect 4-for-4 in the opener while Freitag was 2-for-4. Senior
Amanda Baldwin (Baltimore, Md./North County) was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, freshman
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) was 2-for-3 with three runs and a pair of RBIs and senior
Lindsay Durkin (Damascus, Md./Damascus) was 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
In the second game, the Bobcats jumped out early with two runs in the first inning and six runs in the second for a 8-0 lead. FSU posted a single run in the third for a 9-0 edge. The Mounties answered with a grand slam in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Freshman
Kelly Callan (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) earned a complete-game win, striking out two and allowing all four runs.
Freitag was 3-for-4 with three runs while sophomores
Samantha Quirin (Lovettsville, Va./Loudoun Valley) and
Kelly Filipowicz (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) also contributed from the plate. Quirin was 2-for-5 with two runs and Filipowicz was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.
Frostburg State hosts Pitt-Greensburg on Thursday for a doubleheader at 3:00 pm.
