YORK, Pa. - Jaclyn VanLuit scored a game-high six goals and York jumped out to a 8-1 lead midway through the first half on its way to a 17-3 victory over Frostburg State, Saturday at Kinsley Field.

Seven different players scored for York (7-4), which held an edge in just about every statistical category. The Spartans were 3-of-8 on free-position shots and a perfect 11-11 on clears in the first half as they led 11-2 at the break. The hosts also outshot the Bobcats 24-8 over the first period and held a decisive 43-12 lead for the entire game. The Spartans finished the game 20-of-22 on clears and 4-of-14 on free positions.
Senior
Carly Rihard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and sophomore
Elisabeth Hildebrand (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) each scored in the first half for FSU (4-4). Hildebrand's goal came at 23:14 in the opening period and cut the York lead to 3-1.
The Spartans went on to score seven in a row until Rihard netted a shot at 10:59 to stop the York run and bring the score to 9-2. York added two more goals in the final six minutes to end the first half scoring.
Junior
Meredith Martin (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) opened the second on a positive note for Frostburg State as she scored her ninth goal of the season just two minutes into the half to cut the deficit to 11-3.
York then collected a six goal run, including three from VanLuit, to end the scoring for the contest.
Alison Napolitano and Carla Thomas each added three goals for the Spartans in the win while keeper Anne Feustle needed only three saves to earn the victory. Junior goalie
Erin Morrell (Easton, Md./Easton) suffered her fourth loss of the spring season allowing all 17 goals and making 12 saves.
Frostburg State returns to action on April 2 when it travels to Susquehanna for a contest 6:00 pm.
