BALTIMORE, Md. - The Frostburg State men's tennis team dropped its season opener to Goucher 6-3, Thursday.

FSU (0-1) captured two singles victories and one doubles win in the loss.

Junior Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) won No. 1 singles over Chris Covey with a 6-6 (7-3), 4-6 and 10-3 victory. In No. 4 singles, Josh Galvez won his first collegiate match with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 win over Steven Baum while senior Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) lost a hard fought match (6-4, 2-6, 11-9) to Andrew Gerst in No. 2 singles.

In doubles, Shedd joined Chisholm for an 8-6 win in No. 1 over Covey and Andrew Gerst.

FSU travels to Hilton Head, S.C. for a three-match spring break trip March 17-21.
