ASTON, Pa. - The Frostburg State volleyball team defeated Neumann College, 3-0, and lost to Lebanon Valley, 3-2, at the Neumann College tri-match, on Saturday.
The Bobcats have an overall record of 22-4 and are 3-0 in the conference on the season.
Frostburg State dropped its first match to Lebanon Valley (23-2) with scores of 24-26, 25-17, 25-17, 25-12 and 11-15.
Freshman
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) led the Bobcats handing out 48 assists while junior
Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) led in kills with 19. Winterling also chipped in 10 digs and two service aces.
Sophomore
Rachel Burke (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) had 23 digs and classmate
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) filled up the box score with 20 digs, 12 kills, four blocks, three assists and two service aces.
Sophomore
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md. /Southern Garrett) posted 19 digs, 17 kills, two blocks and two service aces while freshman
Margie Maresca (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) had three blocks and two kills in the loss.
In the second game, the Bobcats swept Neumann (11-10) with game scores of 26-24, 25-15 and 25-21.
Winterling posted 14 kills, 14 digs, two blocks and one service ace while Carrington had 38 assists and one service ace. Stephens chipped in 13 kills, 13 digs and two service aces.
Thomas had 14 digs, four kills and three service aces while junior
Chelsea Wassell (Westernport, Md./Southern Garrett) posted six kills and one block.
Burke had 10 digs and two service aces and freshman
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) had three kills and two blocks.
The Bobcats return to action at Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent La Roche College, October 15 at 7:00 pm.
