FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team fell to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg 71-42, Wednesday night at Bobcat Arena. The loss stretches the Bobcats losing streak to four straight.
UPG (14-4, 8-3) came out hot needing only five minutes to pull away to a double-digit lead (15-4). Frostburg State (5-13, 2-9) never threatened in the game taking a 24 point deficit to the locker room at halftime after shooting just 16 percent (4-of-25) from the floor.
The second half brought more of the same from Pitt-Greensburg as they ran away to a 39 point lead (71-32) with 3:19 remaining. Freshman
Mercedes White (Bowie, Md./Bowie) would make a late charge off the bench to bring the UPG lead to 29 in the closing seconds to give the game its final score. White would lead all FSU scorers with 13 points and seven rebounds. Freshman
Elizabeth Carrington (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) would follow close behind recording 12 points and four steals.
UPG would end the game with 10 players recording points led by Amanda Sheaffer with 16. Frostburg State finished the game shooting a dismal 28 percent (19-of-66) from the floor while Pitt-Greensburg ended the night at 48 percent (28-of-58).
Frostburg State returns to action on February 2 at AMCC leader Medaille for a 1:00 pm tipoff.
