WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jessica Schiavoni scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Catholic as it handed the Frostburg State women's basketball team a 63-40 defeat in non-conference action, Wednesday.

The loss dropped the Bobcats to 5-11 overall for the season, while Catholic improves to 6-9.
Frostburg State was lead by freshman
Elizabeth Carrington (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) who recorded 14 points and three rebounds. Junior Jaime Morningstar (Poolseville, Md./Poolsville) added nine points and sophomore
Shanell Williams (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) added six, bringing depth to the Bobcat game.
Aiding the Cardinals were Brianna Peterson with 14 points and Lauren McPeak with eight points and 14 rebounds.
The Cardinals outshot Frostburg State from the floor, 21-of-50 (42.0%) to 15-of-58 (25.9%) and at the foul line 63.3 percent (19-of-30) to 57.1 percent (8-of-14). The hosts also out rebounded the Bobcats 48-33.
The Bobcats, who were unable to score in the first four minutes, never recovered and trailed the Cardinals throughout. CUA opened a double-digit lead (13-3) five minutes into action but Frostburg State narrowed the gap to just five points (20-15) on a basket by junior
Ashley Anthony (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson) with 6:14 left in the half.
Schiavoni later ended the half and gave her squad a 10-point lead at the break, 29-19.
Seven minutes into the second half, Catholic opened a 20-point advantage (43-23) and later extended it to a 27-point lead twice late in the half before closing out the contest, 63-40.
The Bobcats are back on Saturday Jan. 26 in AMCC action against Penn State Behrend for a 1:00 pm tipoff at Bobcat Arena.
