FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State men's soccer suffered its first loss of the season with a 2-1 defeat to Bethany College, Wednesday at Bobcat Stadium.
Frostburg (2-1) had control for most of the game after junior
Gregg Laskow (Plainsboro, N.J./WWP-North) put the Bobcats up with his second goal of the season with 7:32 left in the first half. FSU held the Bison (2-1) to only one shot in the first half while taking ten shots of their own.
BC came out strong in the second half taking more than twice as many shots as the Bobcats. Bethany tied the game off a Trevis Villafana goal with 13 minutes left after a FSU turnover in their zone. The match remained physical for the next 11 minutes until Chatham Gongola ended the stalemate with 2:31 remaining after netting a rebound in off the crossbar.
Frostburg State had one last chance to tie the game with a corner kick as time expired but the header from
Michael Bloomer (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) sailed just high of the goal.
FSU keeper
Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) made three saves but suffered his first loss of the season, while Bethany goalie Chad Perry put together five saves in the win.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, September 8 on the road against Albright at 2:00 pm.
