Women's Soccer Battles Catholic to a 1-1 Tie

FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State and Catholic University of America took their shots at each other Wednesday night, but neither could break a 1-1 deadlock as the game ended in a tie.

The game was a battle of two ranked teams as FSU is ranked No. 8 in the Great Lakes Region and Catholic came into the night No. 7 in the Middle Atlantic Region.

Catholic dominated possession for the entire game taking 25 shots against just seven for Frostburg State. Keeper Stephanie Gwinn (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) had a great night making a season-high 10 saves to hold off the Cardinal attack and preserve the tie.

The lone goal for Catholic came just 4:36 into the game off the foot of Diana Spadaro assisted by Diana Paolitano. The Bobcats responded eight minutes later on a free kick from the top of the box when Lauren Lentine (Princeton, N.J./WWP North) for her fourth goal of the season.

The Cardinals had their chances taking 10 corner kicks to only one for the Bobcats, but the FSU defense would not give in holding off Catholic down the stretch.

The Bobcats return to action on the road Saturday, September 29 at Medaille for a 5pm match-up.
