BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Frostburg State scored two goals in the first half and cruised to a 2-0 shutout of Bridgewater in field hockey action, Sunday afternoon.
FSU (5-3) has now won three games in a row, outscoring opponents 10-1 during that stretch.
In the win over BC (1-6), the Bobcats attempted 23 shots while holding the hosts to just seven. Frostburg State also led in penalty corners, 11-4.
Sophomore Sammy Statler (La Plata, Md./La Plata) scored for the second-consecutive game, this time in the ninth minute off an assist from fellow sophomore
Kelly Filipowicz (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) as FSU led 1-0.
Eight minutes later, freshman
Brooke Tapman (Salisbury, Md./Pocomoke) added an insurance goal for the Bobcats. It was her second-straight game with a goal as well.
Rachel Doria and Kristen Combs each recorded two shots for Bridgwater.
Senior
Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) earned the shutout victory seeing just seven shots and making three saves.
FSU is back in action on Saturday, October 6 when it travels to Lynchburg at 2:00 pm.
