Men's Soccer Falls to No. 18 Ranked Franklin & Marshall

Freshman Michael Pistorio
LANCASTER, Pa. - Freshman Ben Fraczkowski (Baltimore, Md./C. Milton Wright) scored the only goal for the Frostburg State men's soccer team as it lost to No. 18 Franklin & Marshall, 2-1, on Wednesday evening.

Box Score

FSU is 3-4 overall while Franklin and Marshall remains undefeated at 7-0.

Despite having four starters out of the lineup due to injury, the Bobcats got on the board first when Fraczkowski netted a shot off an assist from freshman Mike Pistorio (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) at the 22-mintue mark. It was Fraczkowski's second goal of the season and the first that the Diplomats have surrendered all season.

The Bobcats led the game until 54:35 when Chris Walters scored an unassisted goal. The game winning goal was netted by Ryan McGonigle with an assist from Brandon Corday in the 70th mintue, giving the win to the Diplomats.

While in net for the Bobcats, junior Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) made four saves while Franklin & Marshall goalie Zack Zamek had two saves in the win.

"That was the best team we faced all season," said head coach Keith Byrnes. "To go into the game with really only 15 healthy players, I'm extremely pleased with the work rate and discipline we showed as a team. If we can maintain that level of play for the AMCC, I'm confident we'll do well.

The Bobcats are back on the field at Bobcat Stadium this Saturday at 3:00 pm against Lake Erie.
