FROSTBURG, Md. - Freshman Brooke Tapman (Salisbury, Md./Pocomoke) scored the only goal for Frostburg State in a 2-1 season opening loss to Wooster, Saturday at Bobcat Stadium.
The Bobcats (0-1) trailed 2-0 when Tapman scored her first collegiate goal in the 50th minute.
FSU, despite the loss, outshot the Fighting Scots 13-3 and held the edge in penalty corners 6-1. FSU had a chance to get on the scoreboard in the first half but a sophomore Kelly Filipowicz (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) shot hit the post.
Amanda Artman gave Wooster a 1-0 lead with a goal at 40:27 off a feed from Brittany Montgomery. The visitors later went up two goals when Maggie Donnelly netted a pass from Artman.
Senior Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) played the full game in net for the Bobcats while Izzy Maffetone and Abby Peters split time for the Fighting Scots, stopping three shots each.
Frostburg State retuns to action on Tuesday, September 4 when it travels to St. Vincent at 4:30 pm.
