FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State volleyball team split its opening round matches at the EMU Invitational, Friday evening.
The Bobcats won the first match against N.C. Wesleyan, 3-0. The game scores were 30-20, 30-22, and 30-28.
Sophomore Brooke Winteling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) led the Bocats with 18 kills followed by seven kills from freshmen
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir). Winterling also had two service aces and four digs, while Thomas had 1.5 blocks.
Sophomore
Chelsea Wassel (Westernport, Md./Southern Garrett) led the team with five service aces, while junior
Jenny Wheaton (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) had 39 assists, three service aces and 0.5 blocks. Sophomore
Rachel Burke (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) led the Bobcats with five digs.
FSU was defeated in the second match by Bridgewater 3-0. The game scores were 30-20, 30-27, and 30-17.
Winterling led the second match with 11 kills followed by Stephens with ten. Wheaton led the Bobcats with 24 assists, while Burke led the team with seven digs.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow morning against Mary Baldwin at 10:00 am.
