Amanda LaPorta (Westminster, Md./Westminster) sank the game-winning shot with no time remaining on the clock as Frostburg State slipped past Villa Julie in non-conference women's basketball action 48-46, Tuesday evening.

FSU improves to 3-0 on the season while VJC sits at 0-3.
Each team made just 17 baskets in the ballgame and the Bobcats managed just 27.4% shooting from the floor (17-for-62), but rallied from a six-point deficit in the final 2:37 by holding the hosts scoreless. LaPorta scored four of her team-high 13 points down the final stretch including the game winner.
Frostburg State held the lead in rebounds (48-32), free throws (14-6) and steals (15-4) but had trouble overcoming a rough shooting performance until late in the second half.
Sophomore
Sidra Bing (Columbia, Md./Catholic of Baltimore) chipped in 11 scores and classmate
Shanell Williams (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. The Mustangs were led in scoring by Tara Galvin with 15 points followd by Ashley Burrell with 14.
VJC set the tempo early, erasing FSU's early 2-0 lead with a 13-3 run for a game-high eight-point advantage. The Bobcats battled back to tie the game twice, the second time at 18-18 with 4:11 showing, but the Mustangs pushed their lead to three at the half after Burrell hit a jumper at the buzzer for a 25-22 edge.

Brittany James (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) and a pair of free throws from Williams.
Frostburg State held a two-point lead, 35-33 with 11:35 to go, but Villa Julie's Morgan James hit a jumper to tie the game and the Mustangs would go on to hold the lead until FSU's late run with just 2:37 left.
The Bobcats are back in action on Friday when they travel to the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament.
