Women's Soccer Dominates in 13-0 Win Over Mt. Aloysius

Christine Fitzgerald
FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State came out of the gates running in route to a 13-0 victory against Mt. Aloysius in women's soccer action Wednesday night at Bobcat Stadium.

The Mounties (1-10, 0-6) defense never slowed the Bobcat (12-3-1, 5-1) attack from the beginning whistle with most of the game being played in Mt. Aloysius territory.

Nine different FSU players would score in the contest led by sophomores Christine Fitzgerald (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) and Kaleigh Herring (Perry Hall, Md./North Harford) who recorded hat tricks scoring three goals each. Herring's three goals were the first for her this season.

Fitzgerald started the scoring with a header into the top of the net off an assist from Stephanie Parker (Dundalk, Md./Catholic) at the 6:54 mark of the first half. The scoring never slowed as freshman Lauren Russell (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) added to her team lead in goals at the eight minute mark followed a minute later by sophomore Lauren Lentine (Princeton, N.J./WWP North). Russell leads the team with 12 goals this season.

Parker would continue her involvement being in on the next two scores with an assist to Fitzgerald and a goal at the 18:12 mark. Herring would add the next three goals followed by the final goal of the half by Chrissy Conrad (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) 30 seconds before the break.

The second half offered no break for the Mounties as sophomore Amanda Drake (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) added her fourth goal of the season just 56 seconds in.

Junior Ali Keeney (Smithsburg, Md./Middletown) and freshman Natalie Miller (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) would score the next two goals for their first goals of the season. Fitzgerald would cap the evening with the final goal at the 76:40 mark.

FSU outshot the Mounties 62-2, with Mt. Aloysius keeper Laura Deely making 16 saves in an attempt to calm the Bobcat offense.

The Bobcats return to action at Bobcat Stadium Sunday, October 21 against Pitt-Bradford at 1pm.
