Field Hockey Shutout by No. 1 Salisbury

Frostburg, Md.— The Frostburg State field hockey team was shutout by the No.1 team in the country Salisbury, 2-0,Saturday afternoon in its sixth game of the season.

The Sea Gulls were led by Megan Powell, who scored both goals in the second half.

FSU falls to 1-6 while Salisbury stays undefeated on the season with a record of 6-0.

The Bobcats played a great first half playing up to the challenge of it’s top ranked opponent keeping the score 0-0 at halftime.

Powell’s first goal goal came six minutes into the second half, assisted by Lauren Correll. Powell’s second goal came late in the second half to seal the win. The second goal was assisted by Kristina Holland of a penalty corner.

Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) kept the Bobcats in the game with her stellar play in net. She made 18 saves during the game in a losing effort.

FSU returns to action on Sunday, September 17 when the Bobcats face off against Randolph Macon at 2:00 pm.
